Forming Lifelong Disciples

Our faith formation programs are not just for kids! We work to make opportunities to available to all ages and stages of life.

Children are welcome in worship! Sunday school classes are held during the school year for ages PK through 6th grade, after services, at 10:00 a.m.  We also partner with Metigoshe Ministries to provide innovative day camps, early-out camps, and summer camp camperships.

• Confirmation preparation begins in 8th grade. Classes for 8th and 9th graders meet Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. during the school year.  Our innovative 7th-grade Mission Experts program also meets twice a month during this time. 
• Confirmands also attend a weeklong confirmation camp at Metigoshe Ministries on Pelican Lake.
• Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO) meets two Wednesdays per month.
• In 2022, parish youth ventured to Montana with other regional youth, for a time of outdoor recreation, whitewater rafting, and service learning.  
• In 2024, youth traveled to New Orleans for the ELCA Youth Gathering.

• Monthly WELCA (Women of the ELCA) Bible Study, 4th Tuesday, 7 p.m.
• Monthly Book Study
• Lectionary Bible Study, 12 p.m. Wednesdays at FLC

First Lutheran supports the Pierce County Food Pantry, Lutheran Disaster Response, and other local and global agencies.  We partner with Metigoshe Ministries throughout the year for programming both here and at the Christian Center. Our quilters made and sent over 200 quilts this year to Lutheran World Relief!  Women of the ELCA (WELCA) members serve and connect with women all over the region and the synod.
