Our Beliefs

We are church. We are Lutheran. We are church together. We are church for the sake of the world.

Our community of faith gathers around God's Word and the sacraments. Worship at First Lutheran is full of joy and music of many different styles. Our hope is to make everyone feel welcome, no exceptions.

A few of our faith commitments:

Human beings are restored to everlasting life by the grace of God alone -- not by anything we do;
Faith in Christ is a gift of God through which we receive salvation;
Human beings are made in God's image, but that image becomes distorted and broken by sin (our own and others'); grace works through us and strengthens us to better love God and each other;
The Bible is divinely inspired, and together with the spoken witness of believers becomes active as the living Word of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.

We are proud to be a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, one of the largest Christian denominations in the U.S., with nearly 3 million members in 8,900 congregations nationwide.
